Special Guests

The brief introductions to our guests below have not been updated since the event.

Baroness Tanni Grey Thompson

Baroness Tanni  Grey-Thompson was born in Cardiff and christened 'Carys Davina'. Her sister, Sian referred to her as "tiny" when she first saw her, pronouncing it "tanni" and the nickname stuck! Her phenomenal success is known to us all; total Paralympic Medal tally of 11 gold, 4 silvers and 1 bronze and many other sporting achievements. In 2010 Tanni became an Independent Crossbench Peer in the House of Lords.  As a working peer Tanni uses her experience and knowledge during debates in the House and she has spoken on a range of issues including Disability Rights, Welfare Reform, and of course, Sport. She has received honorary degrees, including Honorary Doctorates from numerous universities, for example from Oxford University and the University of Cardiff.

Gethin Jones

Gethin Jones is a TV and radio broadcaster. Having presented a variety of live shows on S4C, Gethin boarded the Blue Peter ship where he had many adventures including being the first ever civilian to finish the UK Royal Marine Commando 30 mile Yomp.  From one extreme to another, he later danced his way to the semi-final of BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing and he’s been a part of the show ever since.  He has presented a multitude of high profile TV shows and from June 4th, you will be able to wake up with Gethin as he starts the brand new Hits Radio Breakfast show!  He has an events company and is a partner of Leaf Hospitality. He is a self-confessed rugby geek, taking his knowledge to Celebrity Mastermind. Gethin and his best friend Sion both have autistic nephews. Inspired by them, they have set up their own Autism charity called ‘Nai’. Their ambition is to build a much needed school for Autistic Children in Wales.

Alis Huws

Originally from Mid Wales, Alis graduated with first class honours from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 2017. She has performed at many prestigious events including playing alongside Katherine Jenkins and Only Men Aloud at an event celebrating the UEFA Champions League Final in Cardiff. She was part of RWCMD’s Royal Gala Event in Buckingham Palace, hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales and was principal harp in WNO’s Youth Opera production of Kommillitonen in 2016. With a keen interest in Outreach work, Alis regularly performs in care homes for charities such as Music in Hospitals & Care, and Lost Chord, as part of a flute and harp and a voice and harp duo.

Daniel Evans

The live auction will be led by Daniel Evans who is originally from the Tregaron area in Ceredigion. After a career in Engineering, he recently changed directions and now works at the Reading Hexagon Theatre. He is proud that his daughter Rhiannon attended Ysgol Gymraeg Llundain and hopefully his theatrical skills will come to the fore whilst he’s in charge of the hammer!
